Charges brought against the director of a university hospital in Katowice
Allegations of corruption against the Director of the University Clinical Centre in Katowice. This is another suspect in the investigation into corrupting persons performing public functions in the healthcare sector.
Another suspect - the Director of the University Clinical Centre named after prof. K. Gibiński in Katowice - has faced allegations as a result of an investigation carried out by the Regional Office of the CBA in Katowice and the National Public Prosecutor’s Office - the Silesian Field Division of the Organised Crime and Corruption Department of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice pertaining to corrupting persons performing public functions in the healthcare sector by the representatives of associated entities of the medical sector, mainly rendering services in the field of oncology and acting, among others, in Katowice.
The Director has faced allegations of an acceptance of a financial advantage in the form of a radio and television equipment worth several thousand zloty and acting to the detriment of the hospital by concluding an adverse contract with one of associated companies, which resulted in a loss of about PLN 700 thousand.
Due to the damage incurred, the prosecutor secured the suspect’s property amounting to half a million zloty.
