8 persons detained - corruption in the Court of Appeal in Cracow, in the background millions of zlotys

The CBA detained another person in the corruption case in the Court of Appeal in Cracow. Entrepreneur for fictional counseling and training courses was hugely rewarded. The damage to the court amounts to millions of zlotys.

The CBA agents from Rzeszów have detained Jarosław B. - an entrepreneur from the Mazowieckie Voivodship who worked in the consulting and training sector. During the investigation, it was established that he was receiving fictitious orders, for which -  the Director of the Court of Appeal in Cracow, Andrzej P., and his staff, including the Chief Accountant of the Court Marta K. - paid the money. The orders were not executed and issued  invoices stated untruth. A part of the illegally obtained cash was shared with the employees of the Court.

Investigators from the CBA and the Prosecutor's Office have determined that in this case the amount of misappropriated money remaining at the court's disposal amounts to at least 9.5 million zlotys.

The man detained by the CBA will be sent to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów, where he will hear charges, including participation in organized criminal group founded and run by Andrzej P. - Director of the Court of Appeal in Cracow.

So far in the case, the CBA detained 7 persons. Against all of them the court has taken precautionary measures in the form of temporary detention.

In mid-December last year the CBA detained five suspects in the case: the Director and Chief Accountant of the Court of Appeal in Cracow, the Director of the Judicial Purchasing Center and two businessmen whose companies were supposed to perform fictitious services for the Court of Appeal in Cracow. In February, the CBA detained more persons for corruption in the Court of Appeal in Cracow, this time two businessmen - IT specialists. For the fictitious orders for IT and consulting work they were well rewarded.

The findings of investigators from the CBA and prosecutors show that in the past few years around the court - a network of many companies linked by capital, socially and family with the director of the Court and the director of the Judicial Purchasing Center, mainly carrying out fictitious contracts for the provision of services and analyzes - was created. There is no evidence that analyzes and studies have ever been written. There are no documents in the Court of Appeal in Cracow that would confirm the execution of the concluded agreements. According to the investigators' estimates, we are talking about the amount of up to several dozen millions zlotys which were brought out from the budget of the Court of Appeal in Cracow as a result of criminal activity.

The CBA still does not rule out further detentions and enlargement the list of charges.
