Detained officer and businessmen. They earned 13 million zł on overpaid supplies of electronics to the Military Institute of Technical Armament

The Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw conducts investigation under the supervision of the Military Division of the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw on the basis of the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) findings regarding acting to the detriment of the Military Institute of Technical Armament  (WITU) in Zielonka. The findings of the CBA indicate, that a group of people acting in agreement, among them a senior officer - the head of one of the institute's facilities, was to lead to unfavorable management of property of significant value.

As part of the investigation, it was established that the officer acting jointly and in consultation with other people, could create a "chain" of companies that realized, under public procurement, the supply of elements necessary for the production and servicing of the Śnieżnik shooting training system at a price that exceeds their actual value several times - misleading the WITU representatives. Investigators estimate that as a result of the disclosed dealings in 2010-2018, the military institute could have lost 13 million zł.

The CBA agents in Szczecin have detained a lieutenant colonel today, and in Warsaw and its vicinity three other people involved in the dealings - owners of companies forming the "chain", supplying elements to the "Śnieżnik" system.

The head of the institute detained by the CBA, was responsible at the WITU for, among others, public contracts related to the purchase of components (units) for the "Śnieżnik" system.

The CBA officers searched the detainees' flats and the officer's place of work at the Military Institute of Technical Armaments.

The detainees will be transferred to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, where they will be charged.

"Śnieżnik" is a system used to train soldiers in fire positions, to assess the targeting of hand fire arms - to conduct training at shooting ranges, on the battlefield or indoors. It is also used for the training of helicopter shooters, snipers and mortar service.
