17 million zł extorted from the agricultural agency in 2012-2014. 8 detainees

The Regional Office of the Central Anticorruption Bureau in Lublin, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, is investigating the extortion of funding from the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture.

The findings of the CBA agents indicate, that in 2012-2014, persons representing a group of agricultural producers based in the Lubelskie Voivodship submitted five applications for financial aid to the Mazowiecki Regional Branch of ARiMR. The next two applications were submitted to the Lubelskie Regional Branch of ARiMR. All these applications were to contain false data, which led the agricultural agency to an unfavorable regulation of property. The Group was to extort from the Agency approx. 17 million zł, and it intended to extort another 5.5 million zł by submitting false VAT invoices for settlement of investment expenditures. The data on the quantities of vegetables and fruit produced in the group were also to be counterfeit.

The CBA agents from Lublin have detained today eight people: six suspects from the board of the group and its members, and two entrepreneurs who have been working on the investments carried out by the group. The Bureau's officers searched their apartments and places of business.

The detainees will be brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, where they will be charged.
