Re-privatisation scandal. Another person detained

Another person has been detained in connection with the investigation conducted by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau regarding irregularities at the Warsaw re-privatization.

The officers of the Regional Office in Warsaw of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained a former president of a reactivated Warsaw company. The activities are related to the investigation of the attempt of extortion of multi-million compensation from the Capital City of Warsaw in connection with the implementation of claims to property belonging to the company. In the course of the investigation, it has been determined that the company sold to two persons claims to a property located in Powiśle. It has been determined that the funds, in the amount of 175 thousand zlotys, collected in this way, have been appropriated by the then president of the reactivated enterprise.

After completion of the activities, the man will be transferred to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, where he will be charged.

The CBA's officers currently carry out under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office about 70 investigations concerning crimes related to the re-privatization in Warsaw, which concern nearly 200 properties. The value of all resulting damages has been estimated at over 3 billion zlotys. In connection with the conducted proceedings, about 40 persons have been charged.

In October 2018, in relation to the main suspects, the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław directed indictments concerning, among others, accepting material benefit in connection with issuing an administrative decision on the establishment of the right of perpetual usufruct and inducing heirs of Warsaw real estate owners to disadvantageously dispose a property of substantial value.
