Half a million bribe. Detained "red-handed"
Three persons involved in a corruption practice detained by the officers of the CBA
The findings of officers from the Regional Office of the CBA in Poznań have pointed to the existence of a criminal practice consisting of invoking influence in public institutions of the Lubuskie Voivodeship and the possibility of settling certain benefits in exchange for bribes.
The activities of the investigators allowed to detain – immediately after taking PLN 500 thousand – a person invoking influences with the Mayor of Szprotawa. The money was a gratification in exchange for mediation in arranging assistance in purchasing real estate owned by the municipality. At the same time, the Mayor of Szprotawa was detained in connection with a demand for half a million of a material benefit. The person invoking influences and undertaking to settle official matters with the voivodship conservator of monuments, in exchange for promises of material benefit in the amount of at least PLN 200,000, was also detained.
The detainees will be transferred to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań.
Agents of the CBA have searched the places of residence, work offices and premises of business activity with an aim of collecting evidence material.
