Accelerated legalization of stay for bribes
Two persons detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Łódź in connection with the case regarding accepting material benefits in exchange for accelerating the procedure for legalizing the stay and work of foreigners.
The head of the Section of Foreigners at the Department of Civil Affairs and Foreigners of the Łódź Voivodship Office and the manager of one of the largest employment agencies in Poland were detained by officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. The investigation concerns irregularities in connection with the performance of official duties by employees of the Department of Civil Affairs and Foreigners of the Łódź Voivodship Office.
As it has been determined by the investigators of the Bureau, the detained clerk in the years 2016-2019 has accepted material benefits in exchange for favor for the company and acceleration of the procedure for legalizing the stay and work of foreigners. Over PLN 80,000 bribe was "camouflaged" in the form of payment for renting a dwelling owned by the clerk's husband. Detained persons will be charged with corruption in the Łódź Śródmieście District Prosecutor's Office.
These are not the first activities in this investigation. In February this year, the agents of the CBA, in the course of their activities as a matter of urgency, have detained the former head of the Section of Foreigners at the Department of Citizens' Affairs and Foreigners of the Łódź Voivodship Office in Łódź, who was charged with invoking influence in this institution.
