Mayor and his deputy detained by the CBA
Suspected irregularities in connection with the implementation of the investment construction of the Primary School in Niepołomice. Local government officials detained by the CBA officers.
The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Katowice conduct under the supervision of the Terrain Division of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice an investigation regarding irregularities at the Niepołomice Town and Municipality Office in connection with the implementation of the investment construction of the Primary School in Niepołomice along with the adjacent surroundings.
In connection with this case, the agents of the CBA have detained today the mayor and the deputy mayor of the Niepołomice Municipality. They also have searched the places of work of the detainees. After completing the activities, the men will be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where they will be charged with abuse of powers and failure to fulfil duties in connection with the performed public functions with the aim of achieving material benefit by a different person, as well as submitting unreliable statements about the lack of links with one of the contractors taking part in the public procurement procedure.
These are not the first detentions in connection with this case. Already 16 persons have been charged. Threads concerning 7 persons were excluded from the pending proceedings and covered by indictments.
