Million zlotys for a favor
Four persons have been detained by the officers of the CBA in connection with investment implementation in Lublin. In exchange for “help” they expected a million-dollar bribe hidden in the contract concluded with them.
The officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Lublin have detained, based on own materials, four residents of Lublin. Evidence collected by investigators indicates that these people acted in conjunction and referred to influence in state and local government institutions, including in the Lublin City Hall.
As it has been determined by the officers of the CBA, the men undertook to arrange a building permit and legally required approvals in connection with the construction of a skyscraper at Zana Street in Lublin in exchange for a material benefit of PLN 1 million.
Yesterday, three of suspects met in the afternoon to sign a contract to prepare all documentation to carry out the investment. However, the cost of the contract included the previously agreed amount of material benefit. They were all detained by CBA agents at the time the contract was signed. A fourth person was detained at the place of residence. Everyone has been detained by the CBA agents at the moment of signing the contract. The fourth person has been detained in the place of residence.
The collected materials will be presented today to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość.
