Indictment in connection with the CBA investigation into irregularities in reprivatisation in Warsaw

An indictment against the former president of a reactivated business in Warsaw was filed with the District Court in Warsaw. In May 2019, the president was detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw.
The case involves an investigation into an attempt to extort multi-million damages from the Capital City of Warsaw in connection with the implementation of claims on real property due to the business. In the course of the investigation it was established that the company sold the property claims to two individuals. The sales were fraudulent due to the fact that previously the claims had been transferred to another entity controlled by the suspect, which the buyers were not informed about. Thus, the funds in the amount of PLN 175 thousand were cashed in. Afterwards, the president took action to hide the proceeds of crime by ordering to withdraw the money to his benefit.
This is the eighth indictment filed within this multi-threaded investigation.  The officers of the Regional Office of the CBA in Warsaw along with the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław have still been conducting pre-trial proceedings on the reprivatisation of almost 200 Warsaw properties covered by the Bierut Decree. To date, nearly 60 individuals have been presented with charges due to the proceedings carried out by the CBA.
