Suspected fraudsters detained by the CBA

The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau detained two individuals suspected of fraud committed to the detriment of the State Treasury in the course of the procurement implementation for the needs of the Ministry of Finance.

The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Warsaw have detained two individuals at the Fryderyk Chopin Airport in Warsaw. At the same time, the detainees' places of residence and work were searched. The activities are connected with an investigation into suspected fraud against the Ministry of Finance. The detainees represented a contractor providing services to the ministry. Under the findings made so far, it appears that in 2017, the detainees acted on behalf of a Poznań-based computer company with which the Ministry of Finance signed a contract for the supply of specialised computers for subordinate units. The investigators suspect that the contract worth more than PLN 1 million 600 thousand was signed by the contractor with the knowledge of the absence of the possibility of its timely implementation. The detainees were transported to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, where they were charged with fraud. The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures against the detainees.
