Corruption in the capital city Central Sports Centre (COS)

A manager of one of the departments operating within the COS in Warsaw has been detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau on suspicion of corruption.

A manager of one of the departments operating within the COS in Warsaw has been detained by the officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Warsaw on suspicion of corruption. The proceedings conducted for nearly two months under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw were initiated on the grounds of the evidence gathered by the CBA officers.
In the prosecutor’s office, the detainee heard three corruption charges, including demanding and accepting financial advantages in the amount of over PLN 10,000 from a Warsaw-based entrepreneur. The investigators' findings indicate that at the turn of 2018 and 2019, the manager received a "gratification" for, among other things, preferential conditions for renting the Torwar Hall for the organisation of concerts.
Simultaneously, searches were conducted at the detainee's place of residence, at the Central Sports Centre and companies linked to the corruption practice.
Upon the motion of the prosecutor, the court applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest against the detainee.
This is the first operation in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
