Numerous detentions and searches – a new CBA investigation
The officers of the CBA Regional Office in Katowice have detained 15 people in a case concerning acting to the detriment of Huta Łabędy S.A. (Smelter Plant in Łabędy).
Under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, the officers of the CBA Regional Office in Katowice have been conducting proceedings on suspicion of failure to comply with duties by persons representing Huta Łabędy S.A.
It concerns possible irregularities in connection with economically and legally unsubstantiated decision on the sale of shares of two companies (PPHU DOMUS sp. z o.o. and NZOZ PROMED sp. z o.o.) by Huta Łabędy, thus causing damage and posing a direct threat of property damage to the property of Huta Łabędy. The proceedings cover the years 2012 – 2014. In the course of the investigation, fraud against the shareholders — employees of PPHU DOMUS sp. z o.o. — is also being investigated.
In recent days, the CBA officers have detained 15 persons and searched over a dozen locations in Silesia. There were 60 officers involved in the operations. The detainees include the president of the management board of the company which purchased the shares of DOMUS and PRO-MED, former members of the management board of Huta Łabędy S.A., members of the team responsible for conducting negotiations of Huta Łabędy S.A., and two real estate appraisers.
In the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice, the detainees faced charges of acting to the detriment of Huta Łabędy in connection with decisions made on the sale of shares of two Gliwice-based companies. The evidence gathered in the case demonstrated that the actions of the detainees caused at least PLN 800 thousand property damage and posed a threat of damage of at least PLN 3 million.
The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures against the detainees.
The investigation is ongoing.
