Former president of municipal company detained by CBA
Eight persons, including the former president of the Public Utilities Company in Zamość, with charges in connection with the investigation conducted by the CBA under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Radom.
Officers of the CBA Regional Office in Rzeszów have been investigating, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Radom, an attempt to cause huge property damage for at least PLN 1,300,000, to the Public Utilities Company in Zamość by misleading the Lublin Agency for Enterprise Support (Lubelska Agencja Wsparcia Przedsiębiorczości) in Lublin.
The evidence gathered so far shows that the former president of the management board of this company entered into an agreement when organising and awarding a public tender so that an entrepreneur from Zamość could gain a financial advantage. Furthermore, during the investigation, evidence was collected regarding irregularities in the invoicing of services provided by the municipal company. Concerning this act, it was established that the former president of the company took advantage of his subordinate employees' dependence on him by instructing them to certify untruths in the VAT invoices issued as regards circumstances of legal significance. His activities were to result in financial benefit gained by another entrepreneur from Zamość.
In the course of the investigation, officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rzeszów detained four persons who heard charges at the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Radom of interfering with a public tender to gain financial advantages, exposure to huge financial damage and the attestation of untruths in issued documents to gain financial benefit by specific persons. Charges were brought against four further persons, who were released pending trial, of attestation of an untruth in VAT invoices and a letter of reference used by one of the entrepreneurs in a public tender.
Non-custodial preventive measures have been applied against all detainees, in the form of bail - for a total amount of PLN 220,000, suspension in official activities, a ban on leaving the country, a ban on contact and a ban on bidding in public tenders.
