CBA visiting the National Crime Agency (UK, London)
On September 19-21, 2023, representatives of the CBA participated in a study visit to the National Crime Agency in London, as part of the project entitled “Strengthening the competences of law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions in the area of criminal and strategic analysis, supporting the process of identifying, combating and preventing corruption and economic crime”.
CBA is the beneficiary of the project financed under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. Representatives of project partners from the National Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Finance also participated in the visit.
A study visit at the headquarters of the National Crime Agency in London was one of the milestones of the project and its purpose was to strengthen cooperation at the international level in terms of exchanging experiences and increasing the level of expertise in the field of crime analysis.
The NCA is the agency responsible for the UK's efforts to reduce serious and organized crime, working on the frontline with law enforcement institutions to build the most accurate intelligence picture possible of the threat of serious and organized crime and prosecuting the most serious and dangerous criminals.
During an intensive three-day visit, project participants had the opportunity to listen to lectures about various areas of NCA's activities. The speakers presented their organizational units, workshops and answered numerous questions from the Polish visitors. The discussion led to the conclusion that NCA crime analysts use similar criminal analysis tools and techniques as CBA officers. Both services also face the same challenges: how to effectively deal with the difficulties of analyzing mass data in a structured way.
The study visit allowed us to get to know the British partner with whom CBA cooperates on a daily basis. It has become a field for exchanging valuable experiences on both sides, which may allow for even more effective and intensive cooperation in the future.
