Study visit to the Austrian Ministry of Justice
Representatives of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau from May 29 to June 1, 2023 took part in a study visit to the Austrian Ministry of Justice (Bundesministerium Justiz). The meeting was organized in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA - Die Wirtschafts- und Korruptionsstaatsanwaltschaft). WKStA is one of the institutions involved in the project “Strengthening the competences of law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions in the area of criminal and strategic analysis, supporting the process of identifying, combating and preventing corruption and economic crime”.
The visit was also attended by Project Partners from the Ministry of Finance, the National Prosekutor’s Office the Military Counterintelligence, as well as the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Austrian Anti-Fraud Office (ABB - Amt für Betrugsbekämpfung). The several-day study visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss and learn more about the specifics and tools available to the service in carrying out its statutory tasks. It allowed to draw the conclusion that only close cooperation of analytical, investigative, forensic informatics and ICT units can bring measurable results and successes. Especially in multithreaded cases, where huge amounts of data with different sources of origin are analyzed.
The study visit was carried out within the framework of a project financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, under program area PA20 "International Police Cooperation and combating crime" in the "Internal Affairs" Program. The total value of the project is EUR 545,292.00.
