Training "Big data” in EUROPOL

Training "Big data” in EUROPOL

Representatives of the CBA from the analytical and investigative divisions participated in the training entitled "Big data solutions in criminal and strategic analysis" organized in cooperation with @Europol.

On 22nd – 25th May this year representatives of the CBA from the analytical and investigative divisions participated in the training entitled "Big data solutions in criminal and strategic analysis" organized in cooperation with the European Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol). The training was carried out and financed under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, of which the CBA is a beneficiary.

The representatives of the institutions partnering in the Project which is: Internal Security Agency, Counterintelligence Service, the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Department of Financial Information of the Ministry of Finance and Prosecutor’s Office also took part in the training.

Europol trainers presented the topic of big data analysis from many perspectives.

Representatives of the units responsible for combating cybercrime, analytical units and units for the development of new technologies held their presentations during the training.

Participants of the training had the opportunity to practice their skills in a practical way by participating in solving a specific case that one of the European services had to face. In this task, having at their disposal many sets of data with a non-uniform structure, it was necessary to come up with an innovative approach to organizing these data, combining them into sets, storing and then extracting them in order to track down dangerous criminals as efficiently as possible. This task allowed the participants to implement the newly acquired knowledge during the training, as well as to get to exchange various points of view on the analysis of large data sets between analysts from different institutions.
